Our History
Thumb Sewing has long been a trusted resource for the sewing community in Michigan's Thumb, providing machines, service, supplies, and support to generations of sewists.
When founder Ernie Messing retired in November 2023, the opportunity arose to continue serving the local sewing community and preserve an important resource for makers throughout the region. Under the ownership of Erica Dibble, Thumb Sewing Sales & Service entered a new chapter with a fresh brand, a new location, and an expanded vision for the future.
Inspired by a family connection to sewing and a passion for helping others create, Erica has focused on building more than a sewing machine business. Today, Thumb Sewing offers sewing machines, expert repairs, a growing fabric department, sewing supplies, educational classes, and personalized support for sewists of all experience levels.
While much has changed, the mission remains the same: to provide a welcoming place where creativity is encouraged, questions are answered, and the craft of sewing can continue to thrive for generations to come.
